A new study suggests a possible treatment for the heartburn that is linked to the same side effects, including heartburn. The study, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, was conducted by the University of Miami gastroenterology team. The study included patients with an average age of 51 and was designed to evaluate a patient-level comparison for the following outcomes: the frequency of frequent heartburn with a new treatment; the frequency of heartburn at home; the frequency of frequent heartburn with a new treatment; the frequency of heartburn on the same day at home; and the frequency of heartburn at the same location at the same time. The results showed that treatment with Nexium® is significantly more effective in relieving heartburn than placebo. In fact, the study found that patients on Nexium® had a greater proportion of heartburn than those on a placebo.
The study is a new study to be performed by the University of Miami gastroenterology team and is designed to help doctors better understand the relationship between heartburn and the use of Nexium® (esomeprazole).
